This whirlwind desert journey offers a taste of Morocco’s most iconic landscapes in just two days. Travel from Fes through the Middle Atlas and Ziz Valley to reach the Sahara Desert at Merzouga. Experience camel trekking into the dunes, spend a night in a luxury desert camp, and return to Marrakech via the scenic Draa Valley and Anti-Atlas Mountains. Start: Fes • End: Marrakech
Itinerary
Day 1: Fes → Ifrane → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga (≈ 7 hrs drive)
Pick-up from your accommodation in Fes at ~ 7:00 AM.
Drive through Ifrane, known as “The Switzerland of Morocco,” and the cedar forests of Azrou.
Stop in Midelt for lunch, then continue through the scenic Ziz Valley.
Arrive in Merzouga by late afternoon.
Camel trek into the dunes for sunset, then continue to the luxury desert camp.
Dinner and Berber music under the stars.
Overnight in Merzouga Desert Camp.
Day 2: Merzouga → Rissani → Erfoud → Ziz Valley → Ifrane → Marrakech (≈ 9 hrs drive)
Early morning camel ride to watch the sunrise over the dunes.
Return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4.
Depart for Marrakech via Rissani, Erfoud, and the Ziz Valley.
Arrive in Marrakech by evening.
Drop-off at your accommodation in Marrakech.
End of tour.
